Multi-Building Campus Decommission

OBJECTIVES

Wal-Tek was contracted to decommission 3 buildings on the same campus consisting of 16 floors of furniture. Allfurniture was re-purposed by our client to avoid contributing to landfills. Wal-Tek crews had to knock-down, skid up & load semi's of all product at site.

SOLUTION

A Wal-Tek team was assembled consisting of a field project manager, lead foreman, account manager, and project coordinator that all met at site to take measurements of all furniture. With these measurements, our team created a break-down of how product will be prepped. This allowed us to provide our client with square footage of warehouse space and number of semi trailers needed to complete the project.

Based on the amount of skids and semi trailers, we created a daily schedule to complete the project within our 30 day mark.  To accomplish the deadline, our crew fashioned a decom assembly line: 1 crew knocking down, 1 crew banding/wrapping product, 1 crew relocating to the dock, 1 forklift driver, and 1 crew inside the truck placing with pallet jacks.

AT A GLANCE

  • 1,300 workstations, 900 offices, 1,600 file cabinets, plus ancillary removed

  • 100 semi trucks of product loaded

  • 1,300 custom-sized skids ordered
